So how does one tell if the clutch is bad. Im buying a motor that has a clutch on it. What do I need to look for. In therory i should just put a new clutch on but it looks new except for the fly wheel that has come "c" chaffing on it.

Anyone got a link that goes into more of a description?

thanks

Basically like looking at brakes. Think of the clutch as the pad/shoes, and the rotors as the flywheel. Any dis-coloring indicating extreme heat is bad, glazing is bad, oil is bad, cracking is bad, groves are bad....
Pretty basic kinds of things to look at. No real good way to tell how good the fingers/springs are.
You can go to the parts store and take a look at a new one to compare the amount of material on the plate....

A pretty good rule of thumb. I think I would do it even if I knew it only had 10,000 miles on it. It would at least be 10,000 more miles before I had to do it again. To me it would be worth the cost of parts.

Ok. SO I am going to replace the clutch.
Its going to go into a toyota. Where is the best place to get clutches. I know there used to be a place on 13th and 3rd west but i know know what it was called.
