Bear's 68 Harvester

1968 International Scout 800
345 V-8
Dana 20 t-case
4 speed for now but looking for an IH TF727
Scout II Dana 44 front, open diff 3.54's, knuckles cut and rotated 5*
Scout II Dana 44 rear, open diff 3.54's
Scout II springs, sprung over axle

I bought this scout about 3 years ago from the second owner, bone stock. I then picked up an old chev to wheel, needed money and sold the scout about a year ago.

I sold it to cruiserhead, he put in all the scout II parts, and then I bought it back.

It still needs quite a bit of work to finish all the swaps and get on the trail, but its a scout, its cool.

Plans are to tear it down and sell it for scrap...

Ha ha ha... but seriously.
Gonna leave it sittin like it is, maybe jump to 35's.
I'm on a very very tight budget, so one thing at a time. If I get it on the trail by EJS 2011 I will be happy.
Plans are to swap out the 4 speed for a 727, then clean it up. I want to fix up the body, paint it and the underneath, and make it just a nice clean scout.

Here's the wish list:(some of it is already on the scout, this is just how I see it ending up)
345, with fuel injection
727 torqueflite
Dana 20 tcase, for now
D44 front, open for now, want to drop in an OX Locker with 4.27's
D44 rear, open, looking for a detroit and 4.27's
sprung over with scout II springs, already done.
Complete rewire, looking at the Kwik Wiring Harness.
fix the body damage, weather proofing, and paint.
custom bumpers and sliders
some lights

I am wanting to take my time and really clean this thing up, basically do a restore/build.
Keep it clean and simple. Something I can drive around town or on the freeway, take the family camping, and do some moderate trails.

Basically I want to make it so when someone walks by they stop and say "damn, someone put some time into that scout."

I had the kwik wire harness in my Scout. I wasnt impressed with it especially for the cost. I put it in about 4 years ago and have had nothing but problems with it which made us have to hack into wires to make everything keep working. After a small fire on new years day I decided to replace it.

I bought a EZ harness off ebay for like 130 bucks. So far I like it a lot more than the kwik. My brother is currently hooking it up now! Im trying to help but I like wiring about as much as a kick in the junk, The wires are labeled better than the kwik and it just seems to be going in easier.

Ive seen 3 other people running the EZ and they have all been satisfied. I dont think you can beat it for the price.

hmm, interesting. I like the price better. I've got a buddy, that bought 2 of the kwik harness, and was going to sell me one for cheap, but I don't like fires, and I really don't like electrical problems.

Straight from the get go the Kwik wire didnt have power to have the fuse block. I should have yanked it and sent it back but I figured we did something wrong. I know a lot of Hot Rod guys that love the Kwik wire so I guess to each his own. Im just a cheap a$$

Who makes a fuel injection kit for the IH? Or are you going to convert a Chev tbi?

IIRC, Holly makes one, but I won't buy a Holly product. So yeah, I think I'm going to do the GM TBI conversion. Not 100% their are a bunch of ideas on another IH forum.

Bear knew that question was coming soon. It would be great, but doubtful.

Grrrrrrr, that is not the answer I wanted to hear :p

Regardless I hope you guys can all make it out again this year

PS, looks like a cool project on your hands, can't wait to see it finished up. Keep us posted on the build.
