Ok so tonight im hoping to go pickk up my bender from a friend of mine that he built for me using plans he bought from gottrikes.com He tells me the plans were for the use of pro tools dies and im wondering are there any other dies out there built the same as the pro tools ones that are cheaper or am I really looking to spend $150+ on each die?

I dont know if any others have dies the same as pro tools but I also dont know of any bender from anyone that uses dies that cost less then $150+. The good part is its not like the dies are consumables buy it once any use it for ever. I have been using the same bender for 10 years now.

yes I know they are definately worth the investment but just wanted to see if there were any other options.

My first bender was homemade. I had a machinist cut my dies on a lathe. Full 360* then i pie cut it to one 120* and a 240* i sold to a buddy. Then of course I had to finish it weld on the block to hold the tube and have the bottom shoe machined. What it was all said and done I only had about 80 dollars into each die and they did work really well except they where all 4.5" clr because that's the biggest piece of billet the lathe could fit and the 1.75" would wrinkle anything under. 120 dom.

It was a lot of work and I wouldn't do it again but it certainly is an option to save some money on the dies
