Did a little bending today and I have a question. I'm making the rock sliders that go under the door, I have made the hoop and I want to bend it up right next to the out edge so that the slider goes right alon the bottom of the door. Hard to explain...

Any how, to do this I need to stand the hoop up on end to bend one side and the hange it low to bend the other. Problem is it wont go low enough.

Do people mount their benders horis and vert?

I will look for a pic to post so you can see what I'm trying to do.

Not certain what your bender looks slike. But if it's hydraulic and you pump it manually, I bet that the cyl has to be verticle. Which makes it difficult for bendinig large pieces 90 degrees or more when they are long. I've seen people mount the thing on a 5 or 6 foot pole so that they can make tighter bends on longer stock.

Hope it helps,
Earl

I just went to a local muffeler shop and the guy charged me 10 bucks for all of my bends (4) in all. But they were all 45*. I don't really understand what your sliders look like, but mine have one straight piece that has 4 mounting points welded to the frame and this sits right underneath the edge of the door then the bent piece angles up. Like this.

The muffler guy made your bends? I was curious, what diameter and wall thickness of tubing are ya using for those?

Well the bumper I made was 2" OD .120 wall thickness and the local guy here did those bends, but I had 1 3/4" OD .120 wall thickness for the sliders and I had to go to a place in Pleasant Grove to get those bends thats where they bent 4 places.

Gotcha... so, the guy in Pleasant Grove does muffler stuff but also can bend heavy-wall tubing? Cool.

Yah, the place can bend really heavy wall. Im not sure about how thick is the max though. I would have come up to Rock Logic, but Its a little cheaper for me to stay local. Once I get the money though I am coming for the SAS baby!!!
