Hello all I am throwing this out there. I have a 2002 Jeep TJ and around 45-50 mph it starts to two step across the highway. What has anyone used as the best fix/upgrade for this. My wife is saying either ther shimmy goes or the jeep is sold. My answer was obvious.:D I am currently looking at Rustys HD track bar but I am open to your suggestions. Also a shout out to Brad/The Rad Jeeper for the introduction to this site.

First off Welcome

At the top of your screen there is s search button, if you check there this has been covered millions of times. But to answer your Question.

The Death Wobble is caused by something going on with your jeep. Rarely are 2 cases the exact same. Some are fixed by balancing your tires, getting an alignment, for the most part it has to do with searing components. one of the easiest ways to see whats bad or needs to be tightened is basically find a big rock/Cinder block get one of your front tires on it, and have the wife/girlfriend/kid turn the wheel all the way left, then right, and you will see the moving parts that aren't supposed to be moving

It also helps to know more info about your rig, Lift, Axle swap? any upgrades, etc.

What they said too...

A very simple search will render more than you need to know about death wobble and what causes it in your Jeep. To get you started look at steering joints, panhard bar bushings, wheel bearings, alignment and worn suspension bushings. A steering stabilizer only masks the above problems, so it should be the last thing you change..... Good luck.

:oThanks all for the feedback but, I guess I wasnt clear. I have determined it is the track bar and am looking to see if anyone has a preference for track bars. Rustys is busshings on top and bottom. As i am also looking to go with a long arm eventually, I thought this was the best choice. Any thoughts or suggestions.

Just replaced my trackbar with a teraflex unit after the ball joint stud sheared off my stock unit. Installed easily in their parking lot and it came from a local vendor... It is adjustable from 0" - 6" lifts......

From what I have heard, I would stay away from rusty's trackbar. I have heard that they are not of the best quality. This is hearsay since I have no experience with them. I would look into what is called a double shear design. I have a double shear from Iron Rock offroad on my cherokee and have been pretty happy with it. Rubicon express also offers a double shear design. The double shear design will cost a little more initially, however It is better in the long run.

Skyjacker all the way. Relocates the trackbar to the steering stabilizer location. No more binding the trackbar against the mount on down travel. Easy install too, just need a drill and basic hand tools.

The one from rustys is double shear. I would like that one in a teraflex form. Ben and the boys down there know how to build stuff.
