I have some guns that I would like to get appraised. I do not know where to start. Don't want to sell them as they are heirlooms but might need to help finance a move here shortly if all goes well with a promotion opportunity.
Wait for the gun show to come around, then walk around and ask everyone what they think it's worth, then find the average. At least get a couple quotes when driving around town.
As for a relocation package with the promotion. It may seem difficult to bring it up. But most decent companies will pay for your move if they really want you. Especially if they are the ones asking you to move.
The best thing to do is find out the going prices for the guns used at stores or online and then if you have to sell some list them on KSL. If you wanted to sell them to a store than try Cabela's. They seem to give the best prices and I've notice you only loose around 30% of what used guns sell for unlike Doug's or Getsome who will give you about 1/2 of what they will sell for. Example: Getsome would only give me 300.00 for a HK USP and they have a used one in the counter for over 600.00 and they know me. If they are antiques try looking for prices on gunbroker.com
The guys at gallyons (sp?) on 200 south and about 400 east are pretty good too. If you try to sell them the gun they will low ball you, but I think they would give a pretty fair evaluation if you are looking for a value.
I think you mean Gallensons
I've dealt with them quite a bit and
I'd agree with you about buying and appraising.
they buy for low as they can so they can
make a profit and they seem pretty honest.
Yep bobmed explained it better than me. I would trust their appraisals, but I would probably sell on my own rather than them. They are in business to make money, the cheaper they can buy the better off they are. But I think they would be honest in giving a good appraisal.
thanks for the reply's everyone looks like I will head up to cabela's and see what they say. Unfortunately relocation packages with state employment don't happen but it was definately a good thought. thanks everyone. I will try and gets some photos of the guns up incase anypne is interested.
