Best ribs in town

It's been awhile since we've had a good restaurant thread....

So prove me wrong! I've had ribs at all the basic bbq joints, and while they are all good in their own way, Ruby River has proved to be my favorite.

Here is my list of best ribs I've had recently (last year or so) in order from the best to the worst:

1. Ruby River- best flavor, easiest to eat
2. Pats (if we were strictly talking value, pat's would win by a long shot, but I'm talking overall quality)
3. Goodwood
4. Tony Romas
5. Chiles
6. Rib City (in AF)- I had high expectations, but was extremely unimpressed :-\ IIRC the prices were decent (whatever that's worth)
.
.
Dead Last. Sizzler (yes, I am very ashamed, but it was a family gathering, and I had no say in the matter. I would rather not have eaten anything at all)

I'm kind of stuck on the chains, I'd like to try more local places but not really sure where to go. I want to be wowed with ribs, anyone have a place to try? Atmosphere aside as well, normally I like a quiet place to eat, but for a good rack of ribs I'll take the chaos (and the paper plates  ) of Pat's.

Hands down, the best BBQ I have ever had, a new joint in Lindon called, "The Smokin Apple" they are located about 16 north State in Lindon and have been open for about 3 weeks now.
they are right across the street from my shop, so we go about 3-4 times a week.
I really recommend the briscut sandwich, absolutely delisc. They slow cook all their meets on a giant smoker for at least 12 hours. The sauce is amazing, and I really recommend the fries and peppery fry sauce.

"The Smokin Apple"

Drive by there all the time. I love a good brisket sandwich. I'll have to stop in next time we're in the mood for good bbq.

There's a bbq place on University Avenue in Provo. Ever been there? When we used to live down there I never wanted to go in because it seemed like a fast food joint. The "mcdonalds" of bbq

have you tried famous daves? I love their sauce but the ribs themselves leave a lot to wish for... I would take chili's any day!

I think it was/is called "Lon's". There is another one on State and about 750 north in Orem. There prices were too high for the quality of bbq. IMHO :-\

Holy Smoke in Layton is VERY good and priced very reasonably. Its my new favorite place to eat!

As for the best ribs Ive had in awhile....Texas Roadhouse. Ive gotten them twice there. The first time they were totally amazing. The meat literally fell off the bone when I picked them up! Ive never had them like that before. The second time wasnt quite as good but still very tender and tasty. They also have a decent prime rib for the money

I love food

holy smoke in layton is awesome! The owner Jeff is always there and very friendly.

 Sounds like a sweet place! I'll stop in next time I'm up that way

Forgot to put that on my list. I agree, they have really good sauces, but not tender enough for me.

I have yet to have fall off the bone babyback ribs anywhere in Utah. I will only eat ribs I make at home.

:( You're probably right. I should just start getting creative and making them on my own

Thanks for the info!

I believe TR is gone now. I've seen a location or two boarded up recently.

Interesting! They were ok... to be honest after having their ribs I would just get a pulled pork sandwich whenever I went there

Texas Roadhouse

Is that in Sandy across the street from the auto mall?

I love food

That's too bad about Rib City, they're based out of this area. There's a Rib City here in Fruita that we eat at on occasion and it's usually pretty decent. It's not award winning, but I always thought the caliber of food was good. I will say that we've been 2 times when the food was not good at all.

Mmmmm I love that place, it reminds me of the BBQ I ate in Texas on my mission.

Really? It didn't remind me of home cooked TX BBQ at all. I may have to try it again......

So far, Pats has been pretty good to us. Sometimes their meat is a little fatty though.

Then cook in the oven wrapped in foil at 325 for 1 1/2 to two hrs. Baist with bbq sauce 3 or 4 times.

They cook most ribs that way at restaurants. Pretty tasty for smokeless.

FWIW, Jack Daniels sells wood chips made from their barrels that you can use indoors to add flavor. They are really awesome on the coals though!!

Smokin Apple, when they pick up the ribs to throw em on the plate, the meat falls right off.

Q4U is great too.

I'm a fat guy that loves good BBQ, and the Briscut Sandwich at the Smokin apple is so juicy and tendor, it melts in your mouth, usualy briscut is a tough, kinda chewy meat. Not their's.

I also left off the list Joe Morleys. Their brisket sandwich is good. IIRC the ribs were about at chiles level.
