Best U joints and where to buy.

you want super joints? or regular stuff.

Stockish: Spicer hands down. I've also had good luck with duralast gold: lifetime warranty ;)

Super strong stuff: well there is OX joints, Longfields, Nitro super joints, or do the buy in with Alljeep.com on Yukon super joints.

I think the best compromise of in between is Alloy USA: much stronger than stock and they have needle bearings (unlike many "super" style joints) so they last in a DD, but much less expensive than a super joint.

JE reel also used to make a stronger than stock joint called an H20 joint

If it is a daily driver I say go Spicer. If you can afford it go with some RCVs

not daily driver go with yukon super joints.

I would call it more of a weekly driver, but it is street driven about 80% of the time. If six states will install them that makes the decision really easy. Thanks for the info, RME rocks!

Swapping ujoints is something you really should learn to do.

and with a unit bearing dana 30, you can knock them out in less than 30mins a side.

1)pull the tire.
2)two bolts to pull the caliper.
3) 3 bolts to pull the axleshafts/ unit bearing.
4) you can change the ujoint with the stub shaft still in the unit bearing.

I have changed them. I actually broke the drivers side U joint on my way to Moab last week. It destroyed the yoke in the stub shaft. Installed my spare stub and half shaft in the parking lot of the jeep dealership in Price and wheeled it all weekend. The joint in the spare was squeeling like a stuck pig so I figured I would replace both. I can do them but its a whole lot easier to just hand them over. Time is my most valuable commodity these days. I try and save it for doing cool things like mods. Maint is just plain not sexy.

Nice,
buy some beefy alloy usa x joints and call it a mod or maintenance: wife/gf/female will never know ;)

I had great luck with these when I had 30 and 44 front

Are you tired of replacing U-joints? If so, then pick up one of these Alloy USA X-Joint universal joints. They are manufactured from forged 8620 gear steel and then hardened for increased strength. The Alloy USA X-Joint universal joints' center cross is coated for added protection against wear. They come packaged with full circle clips and grease fittings.

Price isn't bad either. Now you just made the decision harder. I was going to try and run Rattlesnake tomorrow but the snow has put a damper on that. Now there is no hurry I just might order some of these. Thanks for the options.
