Best way to move Scouts?

I have 2 scouts that I got on a trade. They don't have wheels and I think one doesn't have axles, and the other may only have one with no wheels/tires. What would be the best way to move them? I have access to the tow truck at work, but it's just a boom/hoist with a wheel lift. My brother and I were thinking of getting it on the car hauler by lifting up one end and backing a trailer under it, then sliding the rest onto the trailer. The only problem is that out car hauler is a wood deck. Any ideas? I just want to get the scouts off the guys property so others aren't wanting them anymore. Oh, and I only need to move them 3-5 miles from where they are now.

Thanks.

I have often used my engine hoist for this situation. It can pick up either front or rear well, i've even picked a couple different cars completely up to back the trailer under them Throw in a couple of the harbor freight wheel dollies to help slide along the trailer and you be good:)

Wood deck should be fine, I hauled what was left of a Grand Cherokee on a wood deck and you never would have known. Basically we got one end up in the air and on the trailer and hooked a come-along to it and just worked it on. Most of the work was done with a hi-lift jack and a come-along.

If you're worried about gouging the wood deck, get a couple pieces of waferboard or something...it can act as a sacrificial slider under the rust. I mean Scout. ;)

if you're REALLY worried about gouging up the deck, get a couple steel pipes, and lay them across the deck. they will allow you to roll the ru..uh, Scout where it needs to go, then you can just lift one end and remove them. I've used pipes to roll 5,000lb presses all over the building by myself, they work great, and didn't gouge up the vinyl flooring. :D

Easy old man, your remember when scouts weren't rusty.

I recommend using a couple of pipes, I used galvanized fence post to help roll my scout body onto the trailer. It worked ok.

All very interesting ideas.. The scouts are sitting in dirt/sand so an engine hoist wouldn't be helpful. I'm liking the OSB idea. I think that may be the way to go. Thanks. I'll get pictures of the rust/scouts when I get them home just so y'all can see them.

I put the engine lift on the back of the trailer, hook up to the vehicle, lift it up. and back under. The lift rolls along the deck..

If it has a top just flip it over it should slide easier that way. If no top just drag it and it will help with rust issues.
