ok so about a month ago I picked up some new 32" tires that are mounted on some chrome wheels but the chrome is starting to bubble and rust good so I just want to paint them before they go on my sami. I am thinking of a hammered chrome paint.

Anyways whats the best way to prep these and get them painted?

use steel wool with some soap and water if you wanna keep the chrome but if you want to paint then just use sand paper or scotch brite or a sand blaster anthing to cleant them up and make the paint stick

thanks guys I dont have a way to sand blast them so I will see if I can borrow a buddies grinder and wire wheel for the initial clean and then go over it with the scotch brite and sandpaper. Sure wish the chrome wasnt beyond repair but its bubbling now. Oh a guy told me that in order to get paint to stick to it to use rust inhibiter, is that true?

Nope that is not true rust inhibitor will come off just as easy on untreated chrome as anything else.. you just need to rough the surface up so that the primer/paint you put on it has something to adhere to.. chrome is slick like glass.. spray paint glass and then when it is dry you can often just peel it off (if it is thick enough that is) because there is no texture for the paint to stick to..

Since you want it all off, go pickup some aircraft stripper from the auto parts store, then some elbow grease and maybe some sandpaper/scotch pads. The aircraft stripper will strip most anything off.
