So GRE has been taking a more "activist" role in attacking the problems that we are seeing, RS2477 violations, access restrictions, Sec. 106 violations etc... Some of you may have seen the Needles issue circulating on the U4 board.?? Anyway, in our fights we keep hearing random stories about people who have tried these methods and are being buried in legal costs.
We ran this by our attorney, and it doesnt seem possible.. the costs we saw are noted in the flow below:
1. person is cited or arrested - bail is usually 10% of the bond... maybe $100 or most times, released on OR.
2. Go to court, found guilty - file appeal - cost $230
2a. Go to court, found innocent or case dropped. cost - 0, value - exponential
3. Legal preparation for appeal - cost - time and effort...
4. Go to court, if previous ruling upheld, then appeal to next higher court.
5. Appeal cost - $230
Basically, in what we were mocking up, to get a case to the supreme court level (way up the ladder) it would cost about $1000. I would bet dollars to donuts that the BLM or FS wont let it get to that point as they get more and more bad PR.
So what Im asking here is instead of the stories of "I have a friend who has a brother who tried this and spent 50k and still is in court." Id like to get some names and case examples. In one case GRE can contact these people and offer our legal services at cost of filing only, or we can negate these stories, which seem to be bs and only propaganda by the BLM and FS to keep people from fighting for their rights.
