Not often wrong. Never quite right.

The ATV/UTV crowd is far more destructive than the fullsize guys, both in numbers and general disregard for the trail. It's asinine to be considering new sections of trail that would be open to sidebysides but closed to full size trucks. The reverse would be vastly more appropriate.

BLM Decision on Five New Designated Routes

On June 20, 2014 I issued a Decision to amend the Monticello Travel Plan to add to Five Routes in the OHV Trail System in Southeastern Utah. I want to thank you for your input during the analysis process.

The decision is to add a total length of 10.06 miles for all five new designations. These new sections are added to the previously-designated off-highway vehicle routes: Blanding to Bulldog, Jacobs Chair, Nokai Dome, River House and Woodenshoe. Some segments of the proposed routes already exist and some portions would require new construction. Some portions would be open to any size vehicles, and other portions would be open only to ATVs, UTVs and motorcycles.

The environmental assessment, including maps of the routes, contains the analysis used to reach today’s decision. The decision rationale is outlined in the Finding of No Significant Impact and Decision Record which are available on the Environmental Notification Bulletin Board at: https://www.blm.gov/ut/enbb/index.php (search for project name “Five New Travel Routes”).

Responses to substantive comments on the environmental assessment, are included in the Decision Record.
