okay, so I have a pair of BMW M3 1995-2000 E36 Vader seats which are heated. I have them installed in my 02 tacoma, now what i need to figure out is how to hook up the heater on the seats. There are a few wires coming out of the chairs, im not sure if they are for the heater or seat belt lights. im sure i can figure that part out. But the main question I have is how will i power something that needs two different voltage supplies going to it, what i mean is how will i wire it to where it can be on high or low. i found some switches at a junk yard that has high, med and low, I have thought about using two differnt relays (with seperate amp amounts) to the switch and chair and just using the high and low selections, although im not even sure if the heater in the chair has high and low or maybe even medium, i have looked all over the net for info on them but have found nothing. Would anyone beable to help me out? thankyou

I haven't dealt with BMW seats, but I have messed with more Ford and Dodge heated seats than I want to think about. I looked up a wiring diagram for your seats and it looks like the switch has all the resistors built into it for the different temp settings. Get the switch that goes with the seats and wire it up to 12V on a 15 amp fused circuit. The seat heating grids tend to burn out and not work. The resistance through a good grid is ~1 ohm. I'll try to attach the diagram so you can check wire colors.

like said above i have delt with vw heated seats and they should be close to
a bmw set up. dang germans.

the switches control the resistance to the heating element that turn the seat on at differant heat levels.

vw also has a heat sensor in the seat element that will not let the seats turn
on if its over a certain temp in the car.

the vw switches have 0-5 on them for temp levels so you should be able to
just wire a 12v source to the switch with a fuse in line and have it regulated the seat heaters.
