We went out and did the snakes today. Sat. the 22nd . Made it through constrictor . It was wet and muddy. No one had gone beyond the waterfall on constrictor. From there up it was virgin snow. We got stopped by two rangers on the way up to constrictor, the lady ranger had her ticket book out ready to right us tickets. Man I'm glad we registered our rigs for off highway now. If you have'nt registered yours yet , I'd suggest you do. They are looking for stickers now. .

Oh yea, she asked for mine and went over it real well. She kinda acted surprised it was valid. I think I heard something about a new law that took effect in january that all vehicles driven off road have to be either licenced for the street or off road , no matter what they are. Something like that anyway? Maybe they are going to police that more . Or EZ with his esp knew we were gonna be out there and sic't em on us. :eek: :ugh:

Try again, I had nothing to do with it. I guess the reason I asked if they were just waiting for you is because it seems that that is the only place I have ever seen the "feds" partrolling. I think the last time we heard about giving out tickets it was at the start of Constrictor. We need to figure out another "entrance" to get to it :)

I haven't heard of any new law, but on public land there has always been requirement for things to be registered. Just because rock buggies didn't exist 10 years ago doesn't mean they are exempt from the green sticker (I guess).

It's not a new law, but merely a law that they are enforcing now. Here's a cut and paste off of the BLM website;
Does my OHV have to be registered?
While being operated or transported on public lands or roads, OHVs must display a current OHV registration sticker. Off-highway motorcycles may be registered as street legal, if they are safety inspected and insured, or as off-highway vehicles. Obtain registration from the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles. If you are a nonresident visiting Utah please click here.

You may renew your OHV registration online at: http://www.utah.gov/rapid

Your OHV is registered by its manufacturer-assigned vehicle identification number. The Division of Motor Vehicles will issue registration base decals to be mounted in a visible location as follows:

Motorcycles - on each fork.
ATVs - On front or rear of the vehicle.
Snowmobiles - On both sides of the hood pan or tunnel.
All other off-highway vehicles - On the front and rear of the vehicle.

Off Highway Vehicle registrations expire annually on the last day of the month that the OHV was purchased. Annual registration fees are currently set at $14.50.

I spoke directly to (remained nameless) of law enforcment to dispell all the rumor control going around about trespassing and verified that this was in fact what they were writing citations for (no registration). That person (to remain nameless) even elaborated to the fact that they were strictly enforcing it due to the growing trend of trailered vehicles that were obviously not street legal hitting the trail and wanting to ensure the safety facture.

You passed us on the way out, and I did get a ticket for no registration. No one had even tried the waterfall going into Con. it was extremely slippery with the mud, we ran out of time to run the rest of the trail but I also tore out my front driveline.

That was me, I had to pin it to get up it which claimed the front carrier brg mount on the front driveline. It was fun, and it's been way to long since I had gotten out.
