Bought some bling for the towrig

The superduty was starting to look a bit dated, and it was time to buy some new shoes for it.

I found a killer deal on some aftermarket rims through my work and picked them up for $105.00 a wheel:cool:

I decided to go 18s since the difference in tire prices from 18s to 20s was over $100.00 per tire. I also don't really care for super low pro MTs anyway. Gonna run 35s, but have to decide on what brand tires to run next. Its a tossup between Firestone destination MTs or the new BFG KM2. I'll post some pics of the wheels on the truck next.

Nice but I thought you were dead set on the 24s with spinners.:D On a serious note the Destinations are highly rated from the reviews I've read.

I know that this is way old history but I keep thinking about the problems Firestone had with some of their tires. Tread separation, and blow outs. I am thinking about the Ford Explorer problems. For this reason I still will not run them. I know it is just me but still. My pic would be the BFG's. Good tire, I have never had a problem with any of the 14 sets that I have run now. I have always gotten at least 40,000 miles out of them. Made here in the USA, and with great results. What more could anyone want?

I'd run a Firestone. BECAUSE of their issues, I'd bet their quality controls are pretty tight nowadays. I think they are owned by Bridgestone and they build some downright decent tires.

I was a service manager for Ford during the Firestone debacle, and can tell you that it wasn't the fault of the tire. Of the nearly $400k in Firestone tires I replaced, about half a dozen had separated.

Jacques Nasser and his boys dropped firestone in the grease after they provided the exact tire Ford specified.

I have had great success with BFG products, but hear really good things about the destinations. They are also 200.00 cheaper:D

I think that what happened was kind of like if something bad happens to you, you will in turn tell ten folks about it. If something good happens you will only tell one. The Firestone problems may not have been as bad as it was getting reported however, of all the parts on your rig that is the only one that makes contact with the ground. For me, I really don't feel confortable with the Firestone brand yet. I have also heard some folks rave about the new Firestone Destinations as well.

I think that those wheels on your rig will look great! And I hope that you will be posting up some pictures when you get done.
