Broken longfield?

Anyone here break a 30 spline CM...other than me? Bobby told me he has only seen around 90 failures in over 20,000 sets. Just wondering what failed on others. I shattered the inner cage into pieces and destroyed the shaft splines on the long side.

I have. Shattered the inner cage as well on the long side. And stripped the splines on the inner on the short side last trip. The spline ring cracked in 4 places and under pressure stripped the splines on the shaft.

I've broken Longfields, but not the chromoly versions. On those, it's always been the cage or inner star that broke first, I think.

i just got mine back from him, i cracked the ball cage.
already got 2 trips on billings canyon on them this weekend

are you guys that are breaking them using the required hub upgrades, or running cryoed ring and pinions? Ive heard of the hub breaking and shock/breaking the shafts, but usually the pinion shaft will break before the longfield.

I probably don't count since I have the older not-as-strong ones, but I have stock hubs, stock hub studs, normal R&P, and stock inner shafts. My longfields are my weakest link.

I warrenteed my 30 spliners 5 times... And 4 out of the 5 I was only running 35s.

I've broken the inner splines, the bell and the shaft but never once the outer hub splines and I never ran chromo hub gears. (I did break hub gears but it never stripped my birfs?) I bought mine before the chromo hub gears were out. As far as my front ring and pinion goes, it wasn't cyroed but was set up by a gear master and never broke.. I'll see if I can dig up some carnage pics tomorrow

X2 just from people I know, I'll bet Ive talked to about 5-8 people that have also broken them, If that's the case then add in the few from this thread and that only leaves 75 or so other broken ones? Doubtful. They are a great product don't get me wrong, they are the best out there but they will break. I ran half of one trail with my sticky 37 treps on my heavy 4runner and blew one up(and those tires went back into storage)

I've seen Rob break a set. I saw how Chandler broke his. And I saw one other person break a set. All running a 37 or under.

Bobby makes cool stuff, but everything breaks eventually.

I have everything done to my axle you can do except cryo'd R&P I am running the CM longfield hub flanges too. This one was a "clicker", I called bobby and he said to run it and if it broke he would replace it. It ships back today.

We will be floatin the river in the swell this week and weekend, I'll be ready for memorial day though.
