I don't know if this topic has already been covered, but i am having a hard time finding Insurance for my buggy. The only company that i have found is Progressive but i have heard horror stories about them and would rather not go through that in the time of need. :) So if anyone on here has any info they can share that would be great!

Are you looking for liability, or full coverage?

I just want coverage for theft, fire, and liability. I have a ton of money tied up in this thing and if it fell off the trailer or someone stole it I would be sick!

I had progressive on my motorcycle when I got in my accident. They rocked. The agent was at the scene before the cops. They asked me where I would like it taken and had me paid in no time. I ONLY have good things to say about progressive. Just me though

I think I had Progressive when I ran over a motorcycle in my buggy in Moab. Two bikes were racing side by side around a blind corner on my side of the road. They took care of the claim painlessly.

I had pretty good luck with Progressive when my civic got stolen in vegas. (a real "dude where's your car" situation)

However I dropped them because they jacked my rates up for one speeding ticket...

Not at all buggy related but I will throw it out there if anyone is curious. If they need more info they can pm me. Our xj is streetable and has a title and is registered. We have a lot of money into it and I wanted it protected for theft (I need to ask about fire) and was able to add just comprehensive (not collision) for about $20/6 months. All things attached to the vehicle are covered so long as I can provide receipts, they will do a depreciated value based on age but at least I will get something if some punk ass steels it and drives it into the ground in the west desert...

sorry to thread jack...

Well i talked to a couple of companys today and i am waiting to hear back from them , but i will post up what i find out. As far as progressive i am to scared to go that route. My buggy does have off road registration and a title that was a must for them even to talk to me.

Back in the day one of the comp series decided to require insurance. There was a lot of discussion, mostly on Pirate, about the best way to get it. I think the consensus was to register as an expensive OHV and get insurance on that registration. You are on the right track.

Ok the only place that i could get a stated amount was with Progressive....... I got Comprehensive only with 100,000 liability, So it covers if it is stolen , vandalism, or fire. It is 50 a month but i guess that if something happens i will be glad i have it.

mine is insure threw allied insurance on my buggy and i have tow coverage with my truck it will cover it when its hooked to the truck and i know you can buy just totaled coverage you just have to tell them for how much a friend of mine dose it for 50000 i think he said that was about 600 a year

if i would have added collision :D it would have doubled the price. My truck insurance covers the trailer but not whats on the trailer . I talked to allied and they would not cover it with a stated price because it is a (rock crawler). I needed a stated coverage because it is a custom buggy and did not want to leave it up the the insurance company to tell me what it was worth after it was totaled.

We are working on a new buggy trail right now. I am sure we will have it all worked out by time wotr comes around. Just let me know when your coming down, i go out every weekend and would be happy to show you around.
