So i have never been 100 percent happy with the trailer I have now so i think i am going to build a new one to haul the jeep around on. Nothin too fancy just a 7000lb car hauler with drive over fenders and maybe a little wider deck.

What kind of steel are you guys using for the main frame of the trailer i see some people use square tubeing and others use channel iron whats the best, strongest, lightest, cheapest way to go about it ??? I have built quite a few utility trailers and atv trailers but nothing this heavy duty and help is appreciated

I was ready to build my own (and have a friend that was willing help me out) and ended up having a trailer custom made after pricing things out. I used Paiute Trailer in Salina. I'm very happy with what they made for me. They made a few modifications to one of their "normal" trailers and built it for what they said it would cost.

My trailer is 8" channel deck.

I built a 14' heavy duty trailer last winter. I used mostly channel for fear of cost of rectangle tube. I would absolutely go rectangular tube if I did it again. The channel requires more fit-up work and out of position weld time. Tons more notching and grinding. the only reason I built mine rather than buying it is because I already had the axle.
