Have any of you tried to purchases tires or anything off of ebay. I have never tried it before and have heard of people being burned:sick:. I was looking a set of HUMVEE Tires and it looks like a good price, but almost to good.

I like the tires, but not the rim size. I'm not really sure how well they would do in the rocks any ways, have any of you ran them before? When i was in the Army they only had the old wranglers on the Hummers up in Alaska and i hadn't seen these until right before i got out so I'm not sure how well the do in the mud and rocks.

I have once, and wont do that again, it was a bad experience, but not the sellers fault, the seller shipped them UPS and freakin UPS lost 2 of them, they had NO idea where they went, so the seller had to file some lost merchadise paperwork and estimate what they were worth so I could get some of my money back, it took a month and was a royal PITA, I thought I was just screwed but did end up getting some money back and had 2 tires, wasnt very happy bout it...

I know that a lot of the big surplus sellers for the military goods are close to the bigger military bases. Is their something like that around here that would be a local surplus dealer?

I wouldn't let the fact that you're purchasing them from the internetz scare you off. It's like shipping anything else. It's gets weighed, they take that and the size into account, price the shipping, assign it a number, and off it goes.. If it gets lost, it has nothing to do with the fact that they're tires.

I know plenty of people who have purchased tires online with no issues. I'd be more concerned about the seller. If the seller checks out, do it. $670 shipped is awesome for 5 37"s... If you don't like them, i'd bet you could get what you paid selling them locally.

You can get those cheaper from 406YJ on Pirate.. aka TrailWorthyFab. Like, A LOT cheaper. That's actually pretty freakin' pricey for those tires.

EDIT: those tires are the Hummer radials, and they were used a bunch in the early days of comps.... main complaint was the sidewalls... I've got a set I'll be running on the Blazer, I got 5 sent here for $750, most of which was shipping. I think I paid like $50/ea or something for the rim, tires, and runflats.

I bought a set of used 38.5" SXs years ago. I wouldn't hesitate to buy new tires, but I'll never buy used again. The guy I bought from posted pictures of the tires when they were nearly new, in the ad the guy said they were nearly new, but when I got them they were worn down past the wear bars...I was PISSED and he refused to give me any money back. They were from Hildale, I was ready to drive down there and beat his ass. I learned my lesson, never again will I buy used tires without seeing them.

It sounds like I might be better off contacting trailworthyfab.com. I'll see what he quotes me at, I'm just sketchy about the ebay thing i guess. The seller for these tires has a 99.1 rating, i don't know....

Never bought used tires without checking them out in person, but I did buy a set of 35" Maxxis tires from Ebay. It was a great deal and they arrive quickly and as-advertised. I'd do it again and have steered other people that way.

HA! I sent a ton of business his way when he was just starting. :D As a side bonus, he is one of the best vendors I've had the pleasure of dealing with: super easy to get info from, sent tracking numbers, fixed a problem that wasn't his fault, etc. I'm happy to recommend him. :D

Those tires are currently running $75ea at TrailWorthy. That's $300 for 4, plus shipping. Probably still cheaper than the Ebay guy, and no shipping w/him yet either!

I have the 37 inch HMMV wranglers on my truck now, truck sees 20 miles a week, and isn't 4x4 yet, so don't ask how I like them, but.... I consistently find them for $200 and less for 4... there was a guy on pirate awhile back, Colorado springs, CO... he had 15 ish of them, he wanted 175 for five, no rims.

A guy in Phoenix regularly (left me with that impression anyway) gets them in, and sells full sets of four for $200.

I have a "Robert AZ" in my phone, bet ya a dollar its him, and the number is..602.670.2556

I purchased my 35" Toyo's for my DD from ebay, used from a private seller. Hoping I can find another deal like that when my current ones need replacing. Purchased my truck on ebay too from a private seller. In both instances I communicated with the sellers via email before bidding which made me fell better about bidding, and they both had 100% feedback. I agree with making sure that their feedback is at least 99% and read about any negative feedback and see why.

Bottom line, I would do it again. Only been burned once on ebay and it was from a new seller with 0 feedback. Luckily it was only for like $30, but I will never purchase from someone with low feedback numbers.
