I am finishing up the wiring in my dash in the scout and I am stumped on how to run the audio like I want. I want to run only an amp (no head unit), but have two aux inputs, one for the CB and one for the ipod or my portable XM receiver. That is my bare minimum, but ideally I would like to have the CB interrupt the ipod when someone is talking on the CB. Oh and I am not looking for high quality, super spendy sound, It is all gonna end up in cheap marine speakers anyway.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure how to get the CB to interupt the audio source without any source of digital audio processing. Goeller may have some fancy relay though......

Also, you may run into major volume differnces between CB and IPOD/XM due to the sources having differnet output voltages. You may want to find a remote gain control to act as a "volume" for the system.

you could use a 5 diode rectification bridge, from the speaker output of the CB (sense voltage on the left side of z=diode) add a pot for adjustability. trigger an relay open the input to the amp from the I-pod. You add the bridge to prevent low noise from kicking off the output from the amp.

Basically you're talking about interupting a very low voltage ac signal, the output of your Ipod. based on a seperate output, the output of your CB.

Verry rough diagram.

Thanks...I was kind of hoping for as easy button type solution, Maybe I will just put the main speakers on switched relays and then use the in-dash factory speaker exclusively for the the CB, then when I hear the factory speaker I could switch from the ipod to the CB...

Seems like there should be a market for this (in the 1970's), how do people jam to Leonard Skynard on the 8 track and still stay in touch with the convoy??:confused:
