Found this guy on a hike up Emigration Canyon on Sunday....

his spikes saved him from being licked to death by a dog that wasn't supposed to be up there.
























we also saw this spawn of Satan...

He was 4.5" in diameter. And didn't live long after the photo.

I used to call them Horney Toads. I had one for a pet for a couple days when I was a wee lad. My dad made me release it back into the wild.

Ya we called them horny toads too. Obviously lizards though. pretty docile little guys.

If the spider was in my house, he'd be dead. I don't go out of my way to kill bugs in the wild unless in self defense.

The wolf spiders do have one saving grace. They kill and eat Black Widows.

Ive totally seen a smaller version of that spider in my apartment.

Cool! Never seen one in the wild before. As for the arachnid that was a very heroic thing you did and many lives were saved.

Horny Toads are pretty cool. Found one when at scout camp one year, and had it in my tent for a couple hours, then released him backinto the wild. wanted to keep him as a pet tho. such cool lizards.
