This is a plan and simple question for the one with the knowledge. what is the difference between the engin wiring harness from 89 comanche versus one from the HO cherokee found a good donor engine and harness from the comanche at a good price but i really want the HO OBD2 model efi

they are completely different.the 89 is a renix motor and it uses a completely different engine management system.91 and up motors us an OBDI management system while the later 96 and up used the OBDII system.if you really wanted to i guess you could hack up each harness to make it work but why.just go to any pick and pull and find the correct year needed for the job.

You can install the newer motor in a renix xj, just reuse the renix electronics and you original intake and exhaust manifolds....I put a 96 in 90 without a problem....

I was think the same as both of you I know the block are identical. I want to put a stroker into my J-10 wich is why I am looking at the non HO 4.0. It is at a killer price of $125 with harness and ECM. The guy says it ran good whne he removed it. But I am not that good with wiring and EFI systems ( my knowledge is limited have no one to teach me the ropes) in other owrds I am scared I would screw up the EFI swap and have to pay some one to fix my screw up.
So I was going to take this 4.0 l Budget permitting stroke it and use my manifild and carb. from my 4.2l change the gears on my Dizzy from the 4.2l and make a carbed stroker. until I had the knowledge to go total EFI
