Cherokee with 3 link - help needed

You're welcome?

I think we'll both agree the rod end on the chassis side will live longer than the RK joint at the axle, no matter which way it's oriented, no?

Yup, all attention needs to be paid to the axle end first.

Hello again everybody! i've been busy so much and workin so much that i didn't keep you all updated on what i've been doing. I know your lives all revolve around the progress of my jeep so here's some long awaited updated pics :)

as you can see.. i followed all your advice :) I had a guy named Spencer at Distortion Motorsports in SLC do the suspension work for me. I know a little about suspension, and i can weld.. but i deffiently am not qualified to do all this work myself.. it would probably turn out worse than when the PO tried to do it himself! hahahaha!

this is really the only pic i have of the work in progress.. haha so this isn't really a BUILD thread.. its more like a before and after thread.

We lowered it about 2 inches.. doesn't look like a monster truck anymore :)

Okay, lets see it in action right?

i know exactly what you're saying, but i think the rear is where it's supposed to be. it looks off centered because of the way i had to mount the flares. when the rear tire is crammed up in the wheel well it rubs the rear of the wheel well, not the front.. so i wouldn't want to move it back any i would think.
i know what you mean about the yj bushwackers.. but actually they're Smitty-built flares for a TJ. they are huge, BUT they keep the FUZZ off me.. yall know how bloody strict the fuzz is about that in carbon county.

I never had a problem with the city police or the sheriffs down there. But then again I knew a few of them. The HP was a different story. :(

I drove this. :)

Then I tore it apart and re-used most of everything for my current buggy. That was partly because one UHP guy was on my ass so bad that I decided to turn it into a buggy if I couldn't drive it around.

No kidding? You remember my rig? That's crazy...

Let's just say we had good connections for registrations back then. Not any more by a long shot. Of course, that was before they started cracking down a lot. The one UHP guy would give me warnings and tickets everytime he pulled me over. I'd just pay them. But they were cheaper to pay back then too. :( He was a new guy on with the local office and just had it out for me for some reason.

When I fix a few things on my buggy at the first of next month, we should hit some trails.

I wheel with Tanner Dimick all the time. You must be talking about his little brother(s). The Husseys are awesome people.

Unfortunately I won't be finished until the second weekend in September. I'm stretching my wheelbase a little bit and re-doing my control arm geometry. However, thanks for the invite!

Hmmm, the shackle angle at static height should be like this \ .....not this / .

Can't ride well in the rear because the shackle angle is fighting the leaf when it compresses..... makes for a bouncy ride.

Nice to see you got the front end fixed up.

They're boomerang shackles.. they point towards the rear (\)of the vehicle at the top of the shackle, then the shackle bends forward that thats what looks like it points forward (/) is that ok?

Boomerangs still need to run at the proper angle. Upper section should be (|) worst case, lower angle should be (\). This allows rear spring eye to move rearward as soon as the spring begins to compress.

See photos for reference. The 2nd shows the shackle box that provides some lift and also allows you to tune your shackle angle, note that installing one will alter your pinion angle, fwiw. Another benefit is you can run a flatter spring which rides and flexes better, with the same net lift.

Hard to tell your shackle angle from the photo provided, if it's at the proper angle, please disregard.
