For years, this was my go-to Christmas album:
It was also my
only Christmas music album. Nevertheless, each December I would pull it off the shelf, blow the dust off it, and enjoy it for the month until it was put away in January. So it went, year after year, until last year... when I discovered and purchased these two albums:
Both of Rob's albums contain a mix of traditional Christmas songs along with some
holiday-inspired tunes you've never heard before. Even still, I think they both make for great December listening. At least now I have a few albums to rotate through.
If nothing else, these last two albums once again prove the old adage: just about everything sounds better when it is sung by Rob Halford. Seriously. If you need convincing, just check out
O, Holy Night (direct link below). He sounds
far better than Cher ever did, and even better than Paul Shaffer impersonating Cher.
