CJ Tach question

Hey all.
In 1976 You could get a CJ5 w/ the Levi trim package that included a tachometer. So I have one of these tach's and am trying to install it in my 1982 Scrambler. The motor is also out of the '76. Taking the tach out had 2 plastic connectors on 2 wires. One red and one red w/ white trace. I've checked several sources and not able to find a wiring diagram that shows which wire goes to where. I believe that one will go to (-) on the coil and the other to key switch power. But his is a guess.

Chatted w/ Brian at Mepco for a bit on this yesterday and at the end of the conversation we still didn't know. Anyone else have an idea?

Thanx,
Earl

On my 84 the factory tach was wired wierd. It was not wired to the - of the coil. It has been a long time since I put in my Autometer so my memory is fuzzy. It seems like it was wired inline in positive ignition power line. I do remember for sure that after I removed the tach the jeep would not run until I spliced the two wires that ran to the tach together. Colins bros is selling repro tachs maybe you could call them and ask how to wire it.
