For some time I have wanted to get my wife a cleaning service to help with the heavy cleaning.

She does a great job maintaining our home and keeping up with two toddlers, but it would be nice to give her some help with the ominous tasks like; wiping down walls/baseboards, re-lining shelves, storage organization, ceiling fans/fixtures, grout, windows and the like.

What are your experiences? Who do you use?

We have hired a woman today that was recommended by a relative. We supply the consumables and she provides the tools, speciality stuff and elbow grease.

Is this a normal arrangement? What do they charge? Do you have a weekly/monthly schedule or as needed?

Again, this is not for laundry, vacuuming, dusting or general upkeep, but for the deep cleaning stuff.

My niece does this. She is puting herself through school this way. The problem with having someone clean you house is you get complacent. She would come and clean our house once a week. The stuff would pile up till then. Once per month would be my suggestion I am not sure what she charges. we had the family discount.

Guadalupe Rosa, 801-706-7603. She does our house every other week. She doesn't do dishes, laundry, clutter, etc... just deep cleaning i.e. washes windows, dusts, vacuums, bathrooms, mop, etc. I'm sure they will do dishes and laundry but that is out of our budget. They come in with 2-3 gals and rock it out in ~1 hour. Its a great motivator for my wife and I as we have to have the house ready for them before they come, so we have to have the laundry out of the way, all clutter picked up, dishes done, etc. Works for us.

When I was younger (post ghetto years), we had a young maid who also would baby sit if my parents went out. She ended up stealing my mom's jewelry and stuff. When my parents called the cops the officer who came out to do the report told us "I see this all the time and I can tell you that if you press charges on her, I can almost guaranty that she will press charges on you claiming sexual battery (on my step dad)." My parents never pressed charges and never hired a maid again.

I'd be curious to know (ballpark is fine) what you guys are paying, or seeing as quotes. Our nanny used to do this stuff as part of her job but we recently got rid of her. So now it's either hire a maid service or do it myself. I'm pretty lazy so I'd prefer to pay someone :D

I'd have to run it past the misses but iirc it was ~$80 for the arrangement we have, the also do my next door neighbors house as well. ~2 years and knock on wood zero issues.

Thanks. Is that per hour, per visit, etc?

Per visit, there are generally 3 of them here for 1-1.5 hours. Figure that is ~$20-25/hr (not including supplies or travel time) and they are fast movers when they are here. Our house is pretty small but with a dog and both of us living professional lives (i.e. never having time to clean :D) its absolutely money well spent for us and the $80 is well worth the quality time I get to spend doing something else.

That's exactly my thought. If I can spend more time with my wife, my boy, or just doing something else, then it's well worth the little bit it costs. Same reason why I pay to have my lawn taken care of during the summer :)

I threw this buy my wife and she gave me the, "Are you serious?" look. I'm pretty sure she thought I was saying she didn't keep the house clean.

Well, we had the cleaning lady stop by yesterday and it went really well. My Wife outlined what she expected and she went to town.

She wiped down all the walls, baseboards, cupboards, and the banisters/railings. She was quite efficient and got everything done in the 2 hours that we hired her for. This will probably become a scheduled visit.

I have trust issues but our relatives have used her, unattended for years and they have not had any problems or complaints...they also have much nicer things than us. :)

Our lady is 60.00 generally for 3 hours.
House cleaning, no dishes or laundry or clutter.
She lives in Davis county price is on house size. Not sure if she is taking new clients.
