Cloud seeder got out in the sun for a photo shoot today. She still needs a few wire terminated and some paint. Testing/tuning will occur as soon as the deserts melts...

What's different about snow vs. sand? Tune it! Hahaha

Looks good. A lot of detail work. Did you make the pedals yourself?

Some basic tuning is done. The rear rides like mashmallows and follows the terrain very nice (64" 8-pack leaves w/ fox triple bypasses). The front is ok...dual rate springs are perfect, i need to add a shim to the compression and tweak the stack on the rebound side. But for proper tuning it must head south then hammer it into some big G-outs!

Yeah I made the pedals. They will be changing next week though to fit the drivers feet a bit better and open up a bit more space on the drivers compartment.

Things have slowed down a bit lately...other projects and the mint. Anyhow, this truck is 100% street legal now. The wiring is all fresh. It has been out for a couple of shock tuning sessions, it always occurs at night though. Can't ever get any good video.

Here is a detail added to the rear fenders that will hold two medium-sized army boxes. Good storage for the longer trips/chasing.

Pedals were reshaped and the angles were adjusted to the owners feet and preference.

This piece of sheet metal was rolled and riveted to the roof so it can hold some gear. As a bonus it removed all the oil-canning.

Had to move the transmission cooler to the back to remove a bit of heat from the engine bay. Ran out of argon half way though so had to MIG it...classic.

Added this bomber rear diff cover to the model 20. The thing is beef.

The truck has a removable windscreen. The glass has a rubber gasket that follows the edge. The top of the glass slides beneath the flat bar that is along the top of the frame then it has some tabs that secure it on the bottom. Absolutely zero movement, it is solid! This can be installed/removed by one person fairly easily.

More to come.

Couple of things to update on. The rear axle was rebuilt and I snapped a new set of cogs in. The deepest ratio available for this axle is 4.88.

Ran a heat cycle on the gears then it went out for 125 mile shake down, through the West desert. After 4 hours of beating on this truck the rear end was only at 140*. Success!

Took the truck out again for some more tuning and sheared the 1/4" panhard bracket in half... So it was rebuilt with 4 different gussets and another tube that goes from the passenger corner to the lowest point on the panhard. Note the additional wrapped plating on the bend.

The cab scoops slam a ton of air right onto the side of your face...win. The are rolled to match the convex shape of the cab and then aircraft riveted on.

Rolled some door panels, installed window nets and made some rat-rod style arm rests.

Then came bumpstop tuning. Changed the stacks, honed the cans and deburred the pistons. We could push the truck 10mph faster through the rough sections. They are now magic.

Here is a detail shot of the die I machined for the panel fasteners.

And that's about it. The truck is done (yes relative term I know). The owner is stoked. It is off to the desert for exploration/trips/chasing/etc.

Thanks for letting me share the build!

Thanks for the detailed build thread!! I've loved watching this come together, then seeing the video of it out in the desert kicking up dust was the perfect finish! The fab work is top-notch, very well done and functional.... you should be proud!

Absolutely loved following this build from the start. Such a cool rig. The owner is a very lucky guy to have such awesome fab work done on his rig. Everything is top notch and something anyone would be proud to own. Great work.

It's a great build and a good build thread. A lot of times the build thread dies when a project dies. It's good to see a) solid work and b) completed build with supporting images
Not to mention good tech and great documentation.

Edit: I suppose the supporting images qualify as documentation.
