As some of you know I have spent the last few months doing some changes to the Commando. Here is the list:
Swapped out the Dana 27 front and Dana 30 rear for Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear. This axles have 4.27:1 gears.
Swapped the old mono leaf springs for some wagoneers, made all the hangers and shackles.
Rear disk brakes.
New steering system (power). This included adding a power steering pump and box.
New clutch and etc...
Hydraulic clutch system.
Rebuilt and installed a SM420.
Rebuilt and installed a Dana 300 with a 4:1 and twin stick.
Added a clocking ring to the dana 300.
Built a new cross member to tuck everything up.
Cut some of the body off.
Gave it a 1 1/2" body lift.
Added 33" tires...
Did a little tube work on the rear
Made the front bumper and hoop.

And!!!!! I drove it today!!!!
126:1 CRAWL!!!

Here is a before and after. I still have alot to do.... :)

How did you cut that piece off below the door; it looks to me that it has some pretty major body support brackets conected there, at least mine does. I really want to remove that piece of mine, since it is way rusted out anyway, and put a piece of 2x4 square tubing in there as a rock slider.

Plasma cutter.... :p

There are no supports there that make any difference. The pass side has some wires in it that need to be watched out for.

The rattle can thing looks :redneck:
Maaco has specials, little more than painting it yourself but if I did it over again I would spend the extra money and let them have the mess. just throw a good sanding on it pull all removables and getty up, cheapo paint job that looks a hundred times better than rattle can.. just a thought their big fella...
