computer freaking out! Spyware guard 2008?

The last few days my computer has been freaking out. It keeps loading this "spyware guard 2008" and starts scanning my computer. I stop the scan, close hte program, close it on the system trey, then uninstall the program. 30 seconds later it loads it again.

It's driving me crazy. Windows security keeps telling me to download it.

I have AVG and it doesn't come up with any viruses, but I think I have some sort of spyware as once in a while in firefox some random "car salesman" website pops up. IE just keeps sending me to some virus 360 website to download a program and won't let me close out of it.

does it block you from using your task manager? does it allow you to use system restore?

if you are having trouble with these items it sounds a lot like the bug i delt with a few months back.

www.malwarebytes.com was the only free software that identified it and removed it.

one more thing. avg wouldnt touch it. in my opinion avg is just a cookie finder.

A friend had the same problem a while ago and it was a Browser Helper Object
I think it was either adaware or spybot search and destroy that found it,
one of them listed the BHO and I had to manually remove it.

I think I had a similar thing a few months ago... It would give me an error in McAffe about deleting it so I copied the error and Googled it. It came up with a specific program that killed that particular virus... It was a very basic looking thing and I don't remember what it was but it did the trick. Now I only use Firefox and it has been much better!

You are all right, and there are viruses out there for OSX, and as it's market share increases there will be more. But I doubt that there will ever be the number that there is for Windows. Right now OSX is the most stable, most secure OS on the market.
