Computer geeks, need help with a Win32 and a WMI Error

A week ago a little Java update bubble popped up so I did the update. Ever since then I get this "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" and "WMI" error upon startup. My audio was the first thing to go and everyone so often my explorer stalls or crashes.

I'm running XP pro with SP2. Uninstalled Java and no change. System restore claims there were no changes and is of no help.

Searching around the net for answers I did find a Microsoft hot fix for the Win32 error which did crap.

I found a fix for the WMI that involves setting it to manual then deleting its files so it builds new ones after a restart. I'm a little chicken to do this with out backing up my system first.

Any suggestions on how to fix this stuff? I rather not do a reinstall if possible.

Thanks!

Because its built up a tolerance to it.

Still no luck. I may just do a reformat since its been a while. Does anyone have a legit copy of XP (pro if possible) and activation key they want to sell?
