Just wondering where I can go to take the class or get info on it?
Also what would be a good (inexpensive)concealed weapon? Revolver or semi auto?

the best gun for your needs depends on what you are comfortable shooting and carrying. go to a gun range and fire a bunch of differant weapons and differant calibers. the xd series is good, berretta has way too many safety's in an emergency situation so stay away from that. USP is good, expecially in the 40 cal. 1911 models are good, colt, kimber, and argentinian are excellent makers of the 1911. smith and wesson is good as well.

Gunnies in Orem has a very educational concealed carry class. The instructor is very experienced ,and he does the finger prints and pictures all at once so all you need to do is mail it in. As far as a weapon and what is the best you will never get a conclusive answer on that for some where in 4-500 dollar range I suggest either a Glock compact model or sub compact or Springfield XD compact or sub compact. Both are good guns the XD was gun of the year. Like previously stated go to the shooting range and shoot a bunch of them before you buy one. Most of them have a large selection of rental guns for you to try. Get Some Guns on state street has a very nice range and know what they are talking about.

Speaking of concealed permits. I have a friend who is interested in getting one. But he was convicted of a felony. It was later reduced to a 3rd degree misdemeanor by the judge after the terms of his sentence were met. And it was not a violent crime or any of the mentioned crimes listed on the link provided by Brett. My question is would he be able to get one now that it was reduced to a misdemeanor? Or will he be always denied because was originally convicted of a felony?

He should probably consult an attorney because I had a friend with the same kind of deal and he was denied...he went through the whole class only to find out a few months later that he was denied and didn't get any money back.

A good place to take a class is Impact Guns in Ogden, They are very thorough and also do all the photos and prints at the time of the class.

Yeah...this explanation I gotta hear...is this guy a glock geek or something?

glock geek hell no, the grip is too angled for me. the berretta i fired had a couple safety's on it. automatic trigger safety so you had to hold the safety with your finger every time you wanted to fire (so get used to using your middle finger to pull the trigger), slide safety, and grip safety. if you go to pull your weapon in a life or death situation do you wanna accidentily not put your finger on that automatic trigger safety and be unable to fire?

nice meat, pretty low hit to make right off the bat.

i'll take a 1911 as my favorite, argentinian has only the basic trigger safety. been around a fair amount of guns but by no means an expert.

Ummmm Spenc was way meaner than I was.

Sounds like the Beretta you shot was broken. Which model was it?

The 92's and 96's have an on/off saftey, except for the GOV models which have no safety, only a decocker.

to me somebody implying that i'm stupid because i stated that a certain gun has more safety's than other models is much worse than somebody callin me a glock geek. catch my drift?

not sure what year, was a friends gun and no was not broken. the other berretta's at the range we went to had the same features on them.

guns i would carry are a 1911, USP, the springfield xd series (i like the feel of the 40's with the xd and the 45's), and some smith & wesson models. my preferances.
