Does anyone on the board know what this concrete structure was and have any info on it? I've got a buddy that's into mining that asked me to look into it, but I can find it on google earth or in any searches. Thanks in advance!

Looks like a mining/crushing operation that uses gravity to further process/refine whatever they were mining. I'm sure there's a name for that process, but it escapes me at the moment.

No info on that specific location though, sorry!

I grew up playing up there, shooting and riding motorcycles. I have taken Cheston up there several times. I grew up hearing that it was a Uranium Mine that closed in the 40's or 50's. I had also heard this was a copper mine. I remember when you used to be able to go inside 30 or 40 yards but kids partied up there so they pretty much caved that in.

I will ask some old timers in the area when I run into them around time and update this thread unless someone beats me to it.

Anyone have a GPS coord? I can see if its on any of the mine databases I have. It would be the first Uranium mine I've heard of north of the Swell but crazier things have happened.

It does appear to be a gravity mill, likely had either a ball crusher or stamp mill as a portion, there are many similar finds in central Utah, Park City (almost all gone), AF Canyon (foundations only), etc.

There's a set of structures very similiar to that on a hillside outside Santaquin (39.957641,-111.855229 in googlemaps), any idea what mill that was? I'd love to get a close look at it but it's gated off.

No, the mill above Santaquin has nothing to do with the Dream Mine (which is still publicly traded). Eureka, Upper & Lower Goshen and surrounding towns were hopping mining centers during the height of the mining craze in the late 1800's to 1930's. Eureka has hundreds of mines many of which were major producers.

I've lived in Kaysville for about 13 years and always wondered what those were. I finally went up there this afternoon to explore and it just created even more questions.
