Cory's "Race" trailer upgrades.

So last January before KOH i bought a 24' 8' wide box trailer off a friend for two reasons; I have two buggies, and im tired of tenting/camper shelling it. After several trips to my friends house with the tape measure it was concluded both my buggies would fit in there perfectly.

Before our trip i made this little aluminum oil 14quart bottle holder because "Race", installed a mirror on the door, and a latch on the inside of the door,

I also fabbed an aluminum spray can holder with a shelf and chain holding rod.


It has close to a 4' dove tail making the opening quite a bit bigger than it looks. The opening is right a 6'2


Koh camp 19'. It was so much better to stay in then the tents or camper shell.

Over the summer i made some fold down little cot beds. Home depot had the pads and covers and i just built some 1" tube frames for them with hinges that screw to the wall. I used expanded metal underneath to keep it light and get a natural sag thats desired in a cot style bed.

We took it up to fish lake with the new beds and to my surprise the 4 runner on 35's fits in the trailer.


After koh i outfitted this tool box as the "Race" trailer tool box. But the only way to fit the box and both buggies was to remove the tool box, pull in first buggy, then put it between the f/r tire of the second buggy and walk the box up the ramp as you drive the buggy in. After doing that half a dozen times i was over it and decided there must be a better way to do it.

About killed myself getting that thing into place, Its 8' wide after all and there is no one to help when its 3am lol. 42" tire clearance. The top is about 3" under my nipple which is great for my tall ass.


Made one of those receiver vise mounts. i put a hole in the end of the vise mount so you could pin it into the back of a truck receiver hitch if you need to get western.

I ripped out the fugly PO's shelf. I had some 1/8" aluminum laying around so i cut and fit in a few sections.



For drawer locks i just drilled a 1/4" hole and dropped in some 5" long bolts.


Just wide enough that some poor soul could sleep on it.


To free up some room inside i moved the spare tires outside to the back fold down door.


#murderwheelz Yes they clear the ground when the door is down.


Crappy picture aside, i drilled a 1/4 hole through one stud on each wheel to "secure" it with a paddle lock.


A generous friend donated a 6' tool box off one of his old work trucks and it made for a nice tote replacing cabinet.


I cleaned and installed it today and glued down some padding and started nesting my crap into it.

Committed now lol. I got a couple windows off ebay. Cutting the one hole in there for now seamed like it made the inside twice as big. I have two 30x20" windows. one on each side and then later i would like to add one on the man door. I had to cut through one vertical brace for the windows. I do not plan on reinforcing the area as they are on 16" centers which is pretty overkill for a trailer.

Picked up a cheap ac unit off a FB yard sale yesterday.



Cheap Amazon led 12v lights.





Im going to run a 12v battery to run the lights and a 800watt inverter and then i got a battery tender to maintain the battery when i have access to 110 power and or get a generator.


I ran some 110 outlets in there with a male plug on tongue. I plan on planting a microwave in this corner and the battery tender will occupy one outlet here so i added two extra plugs.


This one is at the back of the trailer.

I bent up a mount out of some left over .065 aluminum we had left over from austins buggys skins. I ran two screws under the bottom of the microwave so it cant slide off.





After i installed it i decided it didnt look racecarery enough.

Got a super cheap marine battery and fabbed a sweet mount for it and the trickle charger. I also wired in the inverter.



This is a main kill switch for the battery. I plan on using it as light switch even though each light has its own switch. I like having main kill switches on all my toys in case of fire, ease of maintenance, and JIC something is drawing power when not in use.

You should throw a solar panel on the roof--then the battery will be charged and ready to go whenever you need it, without needing to plug it in regularly. It's one of my favorite upgrades on my camper.

It was in the back of my mind. I use to have one on my Cummings that I only use to tow a few times a year. Either way my cheap 4000w generator showed up today and I plan on wiring in my accessory wire in my 7 way so it also charged the battery when it's being towed

After being in there with the sun beating down on it I decided to insulate the ceiling. The walls are 3/8 ply wood with about 1.25inch air gap from the outside tin. The roof was just thin metal with a very thin wood panel down the middle to support the metal. When I was in there the wall felt fine the roof wood was hot and the exposed metal was so hot you couldn't touch it. Hopefully this 1 inch foam takes the edge off. I cut them all about .25 inch extra and just wedge them in.
