Coverage of the toyota recall

Whats with the media's extra hardcore coverage of the toyota recall? I know its a big safety issue, and I know it affect alot of people, but it seems to me like the news is going overboard at reaming toyota, to the point that it seems pretty clear that the news media has some kind of politically motivated agenda (I know, that would be a first... ). I just can't figure out what it is, because the issue isn't THAT big of a deal. Is it just the whole pro-american/pro-GM/anti-foreign cars thing? They're offended that Toyota's #1 and GM is a massive embarassing failure? Or are they just bored and there's nothing else to hype about?

Blah, Toyota employs more Americans than Dodge or Ford, so Toyota is still #1 in my book.

Interesting side-effect, Ford's January sales are up 25% and GM is up 14%. Hmmm...

I think the whole recall mess is a carefully crafted plan designed by the Obama administration to sabotage Toyota and boost GM sales.

Right. Toyota recalls always seem to hit the headlines (and they've been screwing up alot lately), but this one just seeme like they are drawing it out. Three weeks in and its stilll a top story. WE GET IT. I like toyota and all, but I'm not trying to defend them. I just wonder what the point of nonstop coverage is.

I'm with you on that KSL 4 here in Utah covers it everyday.

I like Toyota and this recall won't stop me from buying another but this is something that they seriously need to fix.

2 the fed forced out secured bond holders and gave control to the unions
3 Toyota factory is non-union shop
4 the media has been in the tank for this admin since day 1
5 everyone hates a winner
