Coyote Canyon Update

From Jim Molter, Moab Friends for Wheeeln' treasurer, who has been heading up the push to re-open Coyote Canyon.

"Hi all, Good news! I received a call today from BLM stating the process to getting Coyote reopened has started. The BLM has posted our request to reopen Coyote on their electronic info board. Now we have to wait and see how much negative response they get. This will determine if a public hearing will be required. I will keep you posted on any new details."

We've talked to the BLM a couple times this week. At this point, they are not accepting any new comments, but they have and acknowledge the hundreds of supporting letters everyone wrote when we first started this process. It will probably be 1-2 months before a decision is made.

If it is re-opened (I am cautiously optimistic!), we may need to do some signing, fencing, etc. If it is a big job, I will definately put out a call to help!

Thanks everyone for your support. I will update this thread as I learn more. Untill then keep your fingers crossed, and hopefully we'll be able to use it again this summer!
