I sank my truck yesterday in a quagmire of mud out at the Newfoundland Mts. After walking out 12 miles I got picked up by a sheriff for trespassing I finally made it home 6:30 this morning. At this point I don't see anyway to get it out because it is in the bottom of a slippery hill so I think winching or pulling will just cause the winching vehicle to slide. I spent about 5 hours trying to get it out before I left and it made me realize once again how worthless my high-lift jack was.

So my question is how well does your Bushranger Exhaust Jack work? If it works good I think it might help me lift it up and shove some wood underneath and maybe get it out. Also do you stock these so I can pick one up from you tomorrow or Monday and go try to get it out? I still haven't got a hold of UP for permission to trespass and as I already got a ticket for it yesterday I don't need another one.

Thanks Kurt,

Medsker

PS do you know the number to call to get a hold of UP?

Hilift Jack is not worthless. Just not perfect for every situation. It's got me unstuck many many times, but it also hasn't got me unstuck a few times. Better to carry it than not though.

Haven't used an exhaust jack, but this is the kind of thing they're made for and I've heard they rock.

So while you're waiting, where were you at that you got popped for trespass? I thought the road next to the railroad grade was a public right of way?

Alright, I agree with you. It has saved my butt more than once. It just seems lately I've been on the "not help" side more than the "help" side. And you are also right that I will continue to carry it because you never know.

you said winching will just drag the winch vehicle down the hill, but what if 1. it was anchored to another vehicle or 2. it had a couple winches on it?

if its not real muddy to get out to your rig(i have no top or doors and the tires arn't covered at all) and someone wants to tow my junk out i'll offer my winching services.

Back from the Swell...

I've got the X-Jack's in stock. Where is the truck and do you want to try and head out for it today?

I haven't got a hold of UP yet. I will call them first thing in the morning and then post on here what the plan is. I know most of you aren't retired like me so you still do that work thing :) It is supposed to rain the next couple of days so I will probably shoot for Friday night or Saturday. We will see what UP says and go from there. Kurt, if you don't mind can you pm me your cell and I'll call you tomorrow and get a time to buy it from you.
