The stock head light was worthless on my drz400. I added a hid kit thinking it would make it so I could at least do some night riding and it did help but not much. I ended up taking the headlight off and running a RMZ450 number plate. This is great 95% of the time but my plan this summer is to do some long rides that will involve some overnight camping from the bike So i wanted to add usable light that I could remove when I didn't need it. My plan was to run two 7 inch 55 watt hid lights one in a flood and one spot and that was even my plan today until I picked up a small bender from Dugfab and he talked me into led bars. So I will be running twin 10" 40 watt bars.

Got about an hour into it tonight before the cold pushed me back into the house.

Super slick.
Post a pic of the pattern when you finish.

Will do. These lights put out a nice pattern for a 40 watt light. They are a spot pattern but they dont reach as far as an hid spot but on the flip side they are not as narrow as a hid spot pattern also. The plan is one low and one high and two switches. Plus with the 30 watts Im saving over running HIDs I can add a tail light and that will be nice for night riding also.

Where did you get the lights? I changed the bulb on my WR to a silver something or other and it made a huge difference but it could be lots better

I actually have the LED light bars manufactured directly for me. But out of respect for the advertising rules here on RME I would prefer not to get into any details about the lights.

Living in Grantsville I ride the Stansbury front trail often. I can't wait till it warms up enough I have a feeling it's going to feel like a whole new trail at night time

I am getting excited about this project next on the list is going to be some Removable luggage racks.

Today was the first chance I had to get back out in the garage. I did like the general design but didnt like how it was going together. So I called Chad up (SLCPUNCK) and asked him to cut some tabs for me. Went up enjoyed a nice hot cup of coco while he cut them out for me on his cnc plasma table. Chad named this head light set up "Johnny 5"

The started to mock it up an tack weld it in place. I am just using cheap hose claps for this but final Assembly will be two high quality clamps per side.

Then I pulled it off added bottom supports and welded it all up.

And I couldn't help my self so I hooked it up to a drill battery.

The bottom one was pointed at the sky and it was too damn cold to adjust it but ya tons more light then stock even not aimed correctly. Now its time to start on some simple removable racks.

Nice job! You may want to consider spray painting the top of your front fender using a flexible matte black paint. You don't have to do the entire thing and you can tape out a nice shape/design that doesn't look like sh!t (well, for the most part anyway). It may not look great, but will reduce glare and eye strain if doing long night rides. Its not a bad idea to use the same paint and coat the underside of your helmet visor too, as they tend to gather and reflect the indirect light.
