Custom Roll Cage Padding

What is the best way to put padding and fabric onto a custom cage. The cage is not extreme or anyting but it is not the stock shape at all. I have looked at most of the catalogs, and their products seem to be stock vehicle replacements.

You could buy padding from Summit or Jegs and have a local upholstery shop make your covers.
Kirkhams upholstery in American Fork would be a good start if you can't find someone closer.

well im thinking cheap and not too bad looking if you take your time, i know its not fabric, but its the same material as a roll bar pad, what about pipe insulation from like home depot, you can get them in the same diameter as the cage.

I will look into the pipe insulation. Is that stuff going to offer any impact (head bouncing) protection? Not that the factory stuff does.....

I forgot to ask, how well does electrical tape hold up in the heat and wet? I have no experience with exposed directly to the elements.

when it gets hot or warm the glue starts to melt and makes a sticky mess. i would get some camo or black duct tape. duct tape holds up to everything!

But duct tape glue won't melt?

There was a huge discussion about this on Pirate4x4 a little while ago. The consensus was that pool noodles and pipe insulation won't hold up to a decent collision with your noggin. The best thing to do is buy the padding by the foot from Jegs or Summit. When the search comes back up over there, I'd be for taking a look.

Yep I used the pipe insulator and zip ties. I can't remember which place I got it at. Homedepot or lowes, but one had the biggist one I needed for 1.5 DOM. Looks like a guy did it with zip ties and pipe insulation
