what point are you getting at?
I believe the point is that the general direction of this country is shifting closer to socialism than ever before. But you already knew that.
what "wealth" do you possess that you believe is going to redistributed?
How about the third of my earned income that never makes it to my paycheck? Certainly I expect the government to need some funding to perform it's Constitutional duties, but I can think of about a million things that the government is doing with OUR money that I don't feel we should be required to fund.
what time have you taken to study practical socialism? soundbites don't count
Are you implying that anyone lacking a Ph.D. in social sciences doesn't possess the intelligence to wrap their head around a concept like socialism? If not, then may I ask where you are going with this question?
do you believe any of the politicians featured would actually support socialism?
Yes, I do, as I imagine the OP does also. Did you listen to the statements in that collage? I have a hard time believing anyone could listen to it and not come to that conclusion. May I ask if you agree?
FYI, your perceived wealth has been progressively redistributed upward for the last 50 years.
I agree, and I fully support the idea that those who create great ideas, great products, and assemble the complicated machine of industry that we all benefit from, deserve a handsome paycheck for it. Want to have nice things like the wealthy? Create something worth great value, work your @ss off, and you can improve your life also. I refuse to accept that people who do the bare minimum or less deserve much of a paycheck for it, paid by those of us who are trying to better both the world and our personal situation.

not exactly. the country is shifting towards centralized, nationalistic power and is in contradiction of progressive socialist beliefs. "socialism" in this guise is a farce and has failed in soviet union and cuba. think outside the box

you're preaching to the choir about taxation. i am single with no children or dependents and give up plenty of my income. the problem i see is the propaganda regarding taxation. our money is completely misspent by the criminals in power. the wealthiest put little the system while taking as much as possible, and we pick up the tab. the message is then sent that we are paying for welfare moms and illegals etc, which is piss money comparatively. boils down to a class warfare mentality in a divide and conquer country, and it seems to be working on you. im not advocating free escalades for the homeless, but our communities are crumbling and need help. the fact that we're even considering renewing bush tax cuts for the wealthy baffles me.

not a phd, but i do posses decent reading and comprehension skills. the information is out there and can also be viewed objectively.

Yes, I do, as I imagine the OP does also. Did you listen to the statements in that collage? I have a hard time believing anyone could listen to it and not come to that conclusion. May I ask if you agree?

i did and do not agree. these are your typical politicians trying to remain in power and they are SOUNDBITES. not one of them would stand up and declare themselves as socialists and enact positive change as their contributors would not allow it. more ammo for the right-wing and tears from the ignorant left-wing though.

funny that you mention this as the industrial revolution brought about socialist philosophies and over 100 years later were are in the same boat on a global level. i will assume that you have been involved in manufacturing for quite a while and possess a stellar work ethic. do you have or think you will one day have "nice" things like the wealthy?

ultimately, its all conjecture

That's exactly what it is.
I was unsure you knew, as simple fact is hard to dispute as conjecture.

.......and on the brighter side, you're providing a textbook example of the modern american dipping their toes into political discussion.
