D30 axle shaft interchangeability

Hey, I have a chance to pick up a YJ front HP D30 axle with 4.10s and both shafts. I think the shafts are the same for my TJ, but I need someone who can tell me for sure. Anyone know for sure if the YJ high pinion axle shafts are the same as the TJ low pinion?

Since it is a high pinion, will the ring and pinion fit in my TJ? I'm really just looking for spares in case of a break.

thanks for a quick reply!

The gears will not work. The carrier will work. The axle housing will work, IF you modify your driveline (it will be too LONG!). Your TJ axles are better than the YJ. I believe the YJ will have a vacuum disconnect, which means they won't fit your rig. The outers are the same, though.

Edit: was thinking one thing, and typed another...

Thanks! It doesn't look like it would be worth it then, not for the price he's asking....even as spares to get me back to the trailer.

You would be much better off picking up a HP Dana 30 from a 99 or earlier Cherokee. 97-99 would be best. They would be a bolt in for your TJ, have the 297X ujoints, etc....like said before your gears wouldn't work, but your carrier would.

If you are interested, I might know where to find a 97 HPD30... I don't think it has anythign in it but stock components - wasn't wheeled...

Thanks. Not really interested in anything except a couple of spare shafts. I have some time, so I'll just keep looking around locally to see what I can find.
