Dana 300 questions

*DISCLAIMER* Ok, these may be stupid questions, but my transfercase is about the only thing on my Jeep I haven't had to mess with, until now.

So I ran The Spike yesterday, and after a fluke roll, which put me back on my tires, my Dana 300 started leaking. It's a pretty stead drip. With the skid plate in the way it is pretty hard to tell where it's coming from, put it seems pretty clean riight below the front output, everything else is pretty dirty/grimy. Does this make sense as the most likely culprit for a leak?

So my main questions are:
- How would I check to be sure of the leaks location?
- If it is the front seal, how difficult is it to replace?
- What would this leak have to do with my roll, or is it just a coincidence?
- Since I've never had prolems with my T-case, I've never filled it; how full do I fill it? Also I'm assuming the fill hole is the square bolt on the top right on the back of the case, right?
- Is there any kind of stop leak I could use as a quick fix?
- Anything else I sould know or need to look for?

Thanks.

most likely the roll was the cause but you truely can't be sure till you pull the case for inspection.most likely you roll put a shock load to your output shaft and cracked it.the output shaft on the front i believe uses an aluminum cover which could be cracked at this point

as to the fill plug ya its a square plug

well first why don't you try dropping the case to even see what the issue is.what ever is leaking you are going to have to clean and take it apart to reseal it.i'm sorry for confussing you about replacing the output shaft. i meant to say the cover for it is aluminum which you could have cracked from the force of your driveline slamming rearward

greenjeep So my main questions are: - How would I check to be sure of the leaks location? [COLOR="Red" said:
Clean the area, run it, and see if new fluid is present[/COLOR]
- If it is the front seal, how difficult is it to replace? Not diffiicult, time consuming
- What would this leak have to do with my roll, or is it just a coincidence? The impact could have something to do with it, as Badger say, there "might" be a crack
- Since I've never had prolems with my T-case, I've never filled it; how full do I fill it? Also I'm assuming the fill hole is the square bolt on the top right on the back of the case, right? That is correct. Fill it until fluid comes out the filler hole
- Is there any kind of stop leak I could use as a quick fix? this would be a waist. Fix the problem, don't bandage it
- Anything else I sould know or need to look for? D300's leak, if yours has not leaked yet you are lucky. However, a "steady" leak is a problem.

Thanks.
