Dana 60 CAD axle

In the past I have thought about putting manual hubs on my D30 and putting in a 1 piece pass. side shaft from an XJ to get rid of the CAD, but then decided not to throw money at it until it breaks.

Would there be anyway to do the same thing on a Dana 60 w/ CAD out of a Dodge other than having a custom shaft made? And if not, about how much does it cost to have a custom shaft made?

That actually sort of answers my next question. Since the axle I am thinking of would be a 94+ with 32 spline inners, I was wondering how easy and pricey it would be to get 35 spline inner shafts. It seems that my idea was WAY less price effective than just sucking it up and getting a Ford Dana 60 that will be high pinion with kingpins.

could you swap on ford ball joint outers. starting with the knuckles and work your way out. this way you could have an inner shaft made solid ( no disconect ) from the carrier to the knuckle. not sure if this is excatly what your talking about, but its somthing to consider, jason.

Dynatrac hub conversions: Perfect for rich people who can't weld.

I can weld just fine, and I am not rich. The hub conversion wasn't my main concern, it was the shafts.

That is exactly what I was talking about. Since the 94+ Dodge axles only have 32 spline inner shafts, I was wondering if there is any other way to get 35 spline shafts while getting rid of the disco rather than spending the $$$ on custom shafts. I am guessing that custom is the only way to do it since the lengths on the Dodge are probably different than a Ford. After that much coin I think it will be cheaper to spend the 1200 on a Ford with 35 spline inners already and no disco and then get high pinion and no unit bearing. The 1000 that I would save on a cheaper front axle would probably be eaten with the parts to make it a worthwhile axle.

i see what your trying to do now, ya i dont think theres a 35 spline axle made for your applaction. sucks that you have to pay 1200.00 for a HP front axle. take a ride out the eastcoast, you can find them for under 300.00 all day long, jason.
