I think both are great axles and can both be made to work really well. To me I guess it comes down to availability. I put together a 35 spline semi-float D60 with disks and locker for right around $1500 and love it. Simple and light weight as far as D60s go.

I think you have to take what rig you're putting them on into consideration. I voted 60 and they are plenty for buggy.
