Like the title says the county owned testing facility will be closing its doors December 31st laying off 30+ employees. There will still be testing in David county just myself and several employs will be out of a job. If this facility was a place you love then tell your commissioners how stupid they are. If you hate congrats it will be gone. Diesel testing will still be around just changing the way it's done. I hope I posted in the right area couldn't decided if this belongs here or general chit chit so moderators you decide.

So does this mean we will be able to emissions test a diesel anywhere?

Sucks to lose your job! At least you have plenty of time to find something else and hopefully better!

Is it possible it is costing the tax payer more to keep it open? I feel for you but not the guys on the diesel side good riddance.
This place was pulling in so much money it was supporting most of the county. Its very self sufficient. 2.4 million last year was made our slowest year yet. The price to maintain everything 500,000. Good news if someone wants to buy the place it will be going up for sale!

The facility is pretty convenient once you get there. For my normal commute (Woods Cross to the U), I have to take a half day off to get my truck done. Curious to see the new regs/procedure. I doubt it will get better as we are talking government here.

As for diesels they'll will be changing the program probably to obd2 testing on 08 and newer and drop the rest. At least thats what they have talked about. There trying to keep everything hush hush on what's going to happen with the program. In our meeting yesterday I told them to just droop the diesel program all together then and quit wasting the tax payers time. Obd doesn't do jack for a diesel.

I can be a pain for diesel owners anytime Ive been in diesels I've done my best to take care of them. Especially since they had to come here unlike the gasoline side where they choose to come here. We are fast and efficient I've done undercovers at stations and I've waited for over an hour for just an obd test when here it takes me five minutes top to do. Which is another reason people are being screwed on the price for 96 and newer obd2 emmissions.

NO complaints from me about the service once I got there. People have been great to deal with at the facility.

sorry to hear about your employment, that does suck but I have to admit that when I read the title to the tread I jumped for joy for those I know that have been taking their diesels to your shop, Sorry man they didn't care much for the treatment they received.

I don't feel that there is going to be any lost revenue seeing people are still going to have to have their vehicle tested and still pay a fee that will go to the county its just that now there isn't a monoply on the diesel side of the house... This was my major gripe about owning a diesel in Davis county...

Alex, start asking some of your higher-ups for a letter of recommendation and I'm sure it will be fairly easy to find a good job, although it will be hard to match your current benefits.

This place last year brought in around 2.4 million so thats got to be made up some where. And yes some of my fellow co workers were dicks about diesels. There's a reason I was moing up through the ranking and getting good appraisals and they weren't. The rebel inside me is rather excited that it's closing cause I've learned a lot about stuff and how to get around it. Not saying I will but you know. I'm looking forwar to moving on to bigger better things! The loss of the health insurance will suck especially since I have a pacemaker and I'm only 26. But I'm happy for the diesel people considering I owned one at one time and hated the way I was treated before I came here.

There are some jerks here I'll admit the I've butted heads with them many times. I just hope anyone you had to work with me felt like I treated them well.

every so often Cole at Coles Automotive is hiring I believe. Give him a call and see if hes still searching. I also think Willey Honda is looking for another lube tech, maybe another mechanic, and a few more sales people so come on in and talk to the New service manager(havent learned his name yet) or the new car sales manager Walker Willey and tell them Brandon Williams told you to come in.
