I'm a fan of Tony Stewart but I think Jr. gonna take it. If Jimmie wins that's cool with me also. Race starts at NOON on Channel 13.

I'd rather be wheelin, but this is a close 2nd.
I think Jr has a good chance. He needs a good season, He just had a ton of bad luck last year.
Either way Daytona is always a great race.:D

I knew this was going to happen.
People who are trying to shake the redneck image by claiming others are redneck. The irony.

No irony here... I've never been called a redneck. ;) Nascar and redneck go together like hobos and ham sandwiches. :p

Easy there brother, I used have hair just like that!

Pics, I have to see them :D Nothing wrong with a mullet, in 1985, 08' is a different story :D

I understand what you are trying to say here, and I get it. But I've been to a NASCAR race... yeah, I tended to think that I was the only one there with higher than a 6th grade education and didn't consume Bud by the gallon.:ugh:

I'm not trying to be argumentitive here, or trying to change the focus of this thread, BUT.... that's like saying I went wheeling once and all I seen were a bunch of 6th grade graduates drinkin Bud, drivin over peoples tents, shootin at there dogs, and throwing beer bottles at there kids.

And I also believe that Rednecks are God fearing, Family loving folks.

It's just generalizing any one group is what we, as wheelers are having to put up with.

Glad to see Ryan win. He is a class act no matter... Kyle Busch had the best car in the field though. Hands down.

I have no doubt that 'rednecks' are god fearing (whatever that means), family loving folk. Still doesn't mean that they aren't stuffing a couple cans of Bud in their beer hat and sitting down to watch some high speed left hand turns. :D The difference, I think, is that NASCAR is marketed (from what I can tell) as a 'redneck' sport. Which is all fine and dandy, it's just not my cup of tea. And yes, generalizations are bad, but come on, sometimes they are just so entertaining!

[history lesson] The term 'redneck' has its origins during the Depression. When someone had a red neck that meant that they had been out in the fields working. Thusly, that meant that there was a good chance they were able to provide, at least meagerly, for themselves and their families. So the term was coined, and it was somewhat of a complement.
Over the years it has been perverted to mean someone slow and dim-witted. The reason for this is because during the Depression the migrant field workers in California were usually from Oklahoma, Arkansas or other areas of the Dust Bowl. They had traveled hundreds of miles to find work, and in many cases their spirits had been broken. Thus, the perception that 'rednecks' where slow and dim-witted. [/history lesson]

Interestingly enough the winner of the race is a graduate from Purdue University in vehicle structure engineering. Not exactly the definition of a "redneck". He could probably talk circles around most of the people on this forum, including me.

And drive circles around the best drivers in the world today.
