your CJ is the perfect "cheater" rig IMO. and i mean that in a good way. It fits Sportsman C and DCRC "stock" class perfectly. The only thing i would argue against is the stickies, but i believe there were penalties in place to account for that advantage.

the confusion was that other VERY similarly built vehicles were in the other group, but it wasnt clear why.
Under OSRC rules there was a 20 or 25 point penalty for stickies. There is no penalty in Sportsman C. I would honestly prefer to have DOT tires and not take the penalty as I don't think stickies matter much on those courses. But alas, having a spare set of 37" tires and wheels for one event is not easy.

I honestly thought I would get some negative points for not having any digging capabilities in c+ to help me out

and again, it goes back to the question of when/why the rule book change happened. i think everyone was expecting DCRC rules, but that wasnt the case

I think he said in '19 that he wanted to move to WERock rules in the future but I can't remember. I do know that the DCRC FB page posted the link to WERock rules before this event but I know not everybody that competes is on FB so yeah...

When Big took over this event he was told it's just a "for fun" event and nobody takes it very seriously but my experience with Delta has always been the exact opposite. It's very serious and there's always been a lot of bitching. I bet we've dealt with more drama and complaining in 7 events in Delta than we have in 30+ events in WERock. I wish I knew why.

The rules are very grey, because there are 2 sets of rules. Just pick one and call it good. If it's werock, then it's that. If it's OSRC rules, then it's that. I'd be happy with werock rules. Lets yah have a few more goodies to play with.

When yah have a tube buggy, in the the same class as a Cherokee, and yah move a Bronco to the next class up because he has an atlas, that's a problem. Also stated above, the Delta Classic rules were there, on the DCRC page. They either need to be deleted or updated. Its a fun event, but when we spend tons of money to get a rig in a certain class, and then rules are changed, ignored, or special rules are made, its very annoying.
Agreed.

I wish I would’ve had more time to chat with people but spotting for 2 cars in different classes and parenting didn’t leave me with too much free time.

It was good to chat with everybody I did see though!

Oh and judging was a treat too. I always say I’m the worst judge ever because I will give the competitors advice. So maybe I’m actually the best judge ever??? 🤣🤣🤣

also (for sake of conversation): would more "stock" or C/C+ rigs compete in the rock race if the jump was removed/bypassed? i think everyone likes driving fast, but the jump (and the landing) can do a ton of damage unless you're set up for it.
I could see that for sure. I know the ol’ CJ would lose the gas tank and probably half of the frame on the first jump but the rest of the track would be fine.

My take on that is that many that compete in that event only compete in that event. Sooo, that means people want to get their money's worth? Maybe that is off the mark, but kinda what it looks like from my seat. I haven't been to Delta since the year Capt. Rob backflipped his new Jimmy's car on the culvert. Seemed back then that it was the same deal...complaining about having to compete against teams that were better because of time in the seat/on course. I'll never compete because I'm not competitive enough...and I'd rather go trail wheelin. I have enjoyed spectating the event though and maybe some year I'll make it back down. Memorial day weekend is hard with other family commitments/traditions.

@jeeperzcreeperz earlier you mentioned you were going to move to a Doubler, I would recommend against that move and just go with traditional Atlas. Doublers in my experience arent as reliable, shifters are usually less than desireable and have a ton of other downfalls such as overall size and weight.

Realistically though take that money you would spend on a doubler or atlas and just compete at more events, We didnt win because we had digs or cutting brakes, we won cause we have experience and a solid strategy. We won numerous championships in Nates XJ without digs or cutting brakes. Experience will get you the win not fancier parts. IMO
