do you know why it sat for that long? were you making floor plan changes to a standard model? or was he getting delayed by his suppliers?

I ask because I have a builder I do work for who is waiting on cabinets for upwards of 1 month longer then normal, simply because the cabinet shop is so busy.

No one had a straight answer for me and all the lumber was just sitting there including the roof trusses with no framing crew to be seen, but after all was said and done and I did my investigating what happened is the builder went on vacation and all his supers did not do a thing on any of the projects, in fact two of them quite and started their own businesses what a pita.

that sucks. so the supers were the problem and managed to soil the builders reputation.

Please PM the info. It is going to be a while before we can build, since our buyers backed out.

Avoid Ironwood Developement and Copper Hills Contruction.

Ironwood built my home that I just moved into on 2005.01.21 home construction started on 2004.05.28 you do the math.

I have to chime in here about Ironwood Dev. The company I work for did some work for them a few months back and let me tell you...he is horrible to deal with. We leaned two properties which took several months to finally get paid on. My boss and him almost got in a fist fight because he wanted to post date a check even though we already had waited several months to get paid. I know he is in a major lawsuit with a major company here in Salt Lake. Anyway don't use them!!!

Well I guess you could put the blame on the supers, but they are the employees of the builder and as such the representitves of such and the employer being the builder should do a better job of hiring people to represent his company.

If anyone took even just the smallest amount of pride they would not have let it get as bad but in this case there was obviously something wrong with the builder and it trickled down thru the supers.

And just to update you I am not the only one that this has happened with, currently at the present time there is a house that the builder started before mine and is still about 2.5 months out from finishing and the home buyers are not at the least happy at all.

There are two more on top of the one I just mentioned above, but I will give credit to the builder he is trying to make things right and finishing up the build jobs when any other builder in this situation would just file bank ruptcy and walk away leaving the home owner holding the bag.

I just bought my home from Richmond. Overall I am satisfied, they didn't let any grass grow (in fact we wanted them to slow down because we needed to sell our old house), when they said 90 to 120 days they meant it.

The home is good as far as the construction but as soon as we signed the papers it was our house and no longer thier problem, so DON'T close on your home utill EVERYTHING is done. I moved in Feb. and I still have not had the acid wash/cleanup done on my bricks. There were a few other things, little things like the screen door not being mounted, the back deck not getting painted (they said they couldn't paint it before closing because it was raining, it was), there was a crack in the window above the front door, the yard wasn't graded/sloped (it WAS too muddy for them to do it before closing, but they never came and did it after the rain stopped), all of this got done pretty fast after we sent a letter to thier corporate offices in Colorado saying that if they didn't get it done they would be hearing from our Lawyer.

I do love my new house though, and the people out here are so much more friendly than in my old neighborhood.

My last house was a (I wont tell you the builders name unless you want to PM) home and I didn't have any major problems with them, although I did hear of some of my neighbors who payed for the appliance upgrades, and the company put the upgraded appliances in the house and changed them out, just after the walkthrough, but before the closing.
(I will tell you that I lived in Woods Cross on the west side by the airport.)

My last home was built by IVORY in 2000. Started with one of their stock plans and customized it the way I wanted it. Overall, it was a very good experience. The home was completed on time, the quality was better than I expected it to be, and the general contractor was great to work with. My wife and I actually enjoyed the whole building process. They even contacted us about 11 months after we moved in to schedule the 1 year touch up, but there wasn't really much that needed fixing.

I've heard complaints about Ivory i.e. low quality/higher price, but that wasn't my experience. It may be that it was the general contractor assigned to us that made the difference or maybe they were better 5 years ago. Or we just got lucky :D
