Hey Guys, Where can I find the best price on dimple dies. I have seen some made from 1018 but would prefer something that will last. Any Ideas??
Thanks,
John

The set I bought is made by light racing. Sexton offroad used to sell them. Not aure if thwy still do.

If you go on Pirate 4x4 in the Vendor section, Tool Thread, and look for the Dimple Die sets, or individuals that are sold by "BarbedWireOffRoad". Here is the link to one of their Dimple Die Threads:

And here is the other one that is on Pirate from BarbedWireOffRoad:

If you tell them that Matt Klouzek sent you, you might get a pretty good discount!! I have a set of their dimple dies, and a couple of the medium size dies have a hole drilled through them which is awesome to use! They have it set up with the hole and a bolt so you can put dimples in metal that is already on your vehicle, or put dimples in places where the metal you are putting it on (i.e. a Hood, or Fender), are too big to fit in your press!
They have absolutely awesome workmanship and they give super dimples!!!
Here are a couple pics of their Dimple Dies:

I have the Light Racing set, got it from Dusty. A friend of mine owns a different brand, and he prefers using my set....that tells you something.

I thought mine from Summit machine were not 1018 but after leaving them uncovered this winter for a week they got pretty rusty. Otherwise they hold up well. I like the summit machines set, however the dies that under 1" aren't quite dialed in. In otherwords they pretty much do nothing.

Dusty, what are yours made from??
Lewis, where can I go to see the summit ones??
Thanks guys!
John

The web site says, "Manufactured from premium hardened high carbon steel for maximum tool life".

FWIW mine seem to be holding up nicely.

Matt, those dies you have look like they do a pretty good job. Did they do the 10 ga ok or did it warp the metal?
Thanks
John

You drill a hole in apiece of metal to make it lighter and then dimple it to give it strength and a nice apperance.

for what it is worth. We use ours alot in the shop and never have any wear show on them at all. The smaller 3/4" dies dimple up to 1/8" plate. I have done 1/4" with a 2" die before but it bent the top of my shop press.

Got some information about some dies for $100.00 for a set of 3 and they are made from 4140. They have 3/4, 1 1/4, and 1 3/4 inch dies in a set. Thats the cheapest I have seen for a 4140 set. They are at www.straightlineinnovations.com Probably try them out.
