Dinking around in Utah County?

Hey everyone new to the forum and pretty new to the 4x4 world as well. I'm looking for some places to dink around with my Jeep in Utah County. Anyone know some places on the east side of the lake? Is anything up AF Canyon open this time of year? I was hoping to run the Squaw peak road this week but have been foiled by the gate. I'm not looking for anything crazy, just somewhere I can get on some dirt and bounce some friends around in the backseat. Any input is appreciated, Thanks guys!

The desert is your best bet. Its open all year long.

AF Canyon is covered in snow this time of year and closed to 4x4s. Everything east of the lake is either illegal or closed for the season. West of the lake, on the other hand, is plenty open and legal.

I figured that would be the case with the Canyon. Definitely not looking for illegal, looks like I'll be headed West for the boonies this weekend! Thanks guys.

Check out little moab, five mile pass, israel canyon, the pony express trail, and there are some fun dirt roads to explore just south of pelican point.
