They are both offering about the same service deal right now. Besides the small differences in channels. Your opinion? Who's better

I've always preferred Dish, but they are both pretty similar and infinitely better than Comcast.

I just like how their menu's are setup, how the controller works, etc. A lot of is it that I'm just used to it.

I have Dish, gf has Direct TV. Like Cody said, I like the Dish menu's better, the controllers are easier to use and their systems are faster (aka, the receiver itself.) I also pay only 50 bucks a month for 200 SD channels, plus another 30-40 HD channels. I don't know if Direct TV can match that....

I had directv for 15+ yrs... when my dvr broke and I requested a new one they told me I would have to buy a new one even though I was leasing it from them.... Dish was out the next day to install my service... for the next 4 months directv was calling me twice a week asking me to come back with offers of free equipment....

Dish sent me a coupon for a free upgrade on my dvr to HD... but there was going to be a $95 service charge for the tech to come out and realign my dish to the satellite that has the HD channels...

so pick your poison....

Direct will never be able to truly touch Dish's pricing. Equipment that Dish has beats Direct by a mile. As far as programming goes they pretty much have the same channels. There are a few only Dish carries and a few only Direct carries.

You want to get Dish's newest machine check out the 922k. It can be fully accessed via a smartphone, laptop, or computer as long as it can be connected to your network. You can stream anything from live TV to recorded shows, you can set recording, pretty much anything you can do sitting infront of the machine you can do online.

Dish here too. Every time I run out my agreement I compare all the options, and every time I have ended up back at Dish.

I've had them all :hickey:
Dish - better interface but you have to deal with phone support in India
Directv - decent interface (almost dish but upside down), US based support.
Comcast - A herd of feces throwing monkeys got something to stick and turned it into the interface haven't bothered to call yet.

As far as programming they are pretty similar, Dish gets into a feud with various companies now and then and the channels get removed until it's resolved, they usually would substitute something else in it's place until it was resolved.

Its all about the DVR for me.

We had Dish for a couple years. Decided to try Direct out about a year ago on some package bundle. WTF?????

We had Dish back the next day.

Direct TVs DVR is a flipping joke. It is ok if you only have TV in one room. But if you have in more than one room like 99.9% of all America.......if you record something in one room, you cant watch it in the other!!!???!!!!

If you buy 2 DVRs from them apparently they will communicate with eachother and you can but its a exrta 15 bucks a month. But.........if you record something in one room and watch it in the other, you cant pause, rewind or fast forward. Thats worth 15 bucks a month for another DVR right??

Direct TV is a joke.

Get Dish

Dish here too. Had trouble with a remote the other day. My son called for tec help. Lady who helped him was from overseas, but she knew her stuff and talked him through the fix.
Comcast has tried to get us back for years. They can pound sand. I'll never go back to those blood sucking parasites.

I prefer Directv. Have had Dish but switched to Directv when one of the local installers offered really good promotions. Whenever the promotions expire I call and threaten to cancel and always get the killer promotion prices extended for another 6 months. Dish cannot beat the prices I'm getting. I've checked.

Oh and when I looked into it last, Directv was offering more HD channels as well.
